Ministry to children birth through 5th grade
You have an important place at Dandridge FUMC - just as you have an important place in the Body of Christ because Jesus said
"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Matt. 19:14 (NIV)
During the 11 o'clock worship service, children ages 4 - 3rd grade are dismissed for Children's Church. This is a special time of worship, prayer, and other activities reinforcing the day's Sunday School lesson. Children are invited to bring prayer requests and an offering. On first Sundays and other services including Holy Communion, the children return to the sanctuary to receive the elements. Christ invites all to his table: children are welcome even if they have not yet professed faith.
On Sunday mornings the toddler and crib nurseries are available. Each is staffed weekly by a paid staff member and a volunteer worker. Infants may stay in the crib nursery until they are 24 months old, and toddlers may attend the older nursery until their 4th birthday.
Sunday School is a fun time for children to read and learn about Jesus and Biblical figures while doing crafts, singing or playing games. Our volunteer teachers and assistants rotate monthly.
On Wednesday nights during the school year, children age 4 through 5th Grade are invited to come and sing in Children's Choir. Choir members enjoy music activities including vocal, handchimes/ handbells, and rhythm games while learning about Jesus. The choir performs several times a year at church services and in the Dandridge Christmas Parade. They have lots of fun while praising God.
We are dedicated to making our church a safe place for children. For more information, click here to read our Safe Sanctuaries Policy.
These activities take a lot of planning, but they are so much fun. If you believe God is calling you to become a volunteer with our Children's Ministry, please contact Pat Heaton, Director of Discipleship. To help with children's choir, contact Tracy Wilson, Music Director.
